This project was one of the more thrilling shoots I've ever participated in. Being in front of the camera used to scare the bits out of me to the point where I'd literally become a deer in headlights. Without a doubt, the team you build with is truly the heartbeat of the production. It was a tremendous honor to become groomed to the point of capturing shots that I never pictured I could emote so comfortably.
My good friend, Iman a talented painter and editorial photographer blew my mind with her ability to pull this much emotion and passion out of me. When I look back, all I remember is the absolute confidence I felt to bring such powerful energy to the project. It is all about the synergy in mutual connection that contributes to developing authentic art. As a two-part women team, we made unequivocal magic way past a level that I could have anticipated.
Seeing through my own eyes, I was deeply channeling my inner goddess, meanwhile carrying my gorgeous baby who was just twenty-three weeks along. There was no greater love, or motivation than showing up for her. These archives of our beginning will be something she will one day cherish.
My final thoughts are to have been photographed in a fashion series of my first days as a mother-to-be while holding my strength, composure and giving my all to tell a story of this newfound happiness is truthfully compelling. This dress, the silk garden print, the three tiers, the sheer cut-outs, the ruffles, the design in itself made me feel like it belongs on a Vogue cover. To have had the opportunity to bring life to designers hard work and vision is an unexplainable feeling.
